Monkey got a Bone by Heiko Greb
wood sculpture, 12” x 8” x 8”
About the Artist:
I am an autodidact continuously in pursue of the next piece of wood, what it will tell me, what it will demand off me, what it will enable me to show.
From farm-boy, lumberjack, tank driver and construction worker to molecular biologist, artist and underground gallery owner, I call the Bay Area my home since 1999, with recent yearlong stints at HB55 art colony in Berlin and Oahu Maker Space in Hawaii.
Since I can remember I am walking in "A Dream of Smithsonian". Meaning I search for and am fascinated by nARTural history. I collect skulls, bugs, minerals and fossils since I can pronounce paleontology, I participated in archeological digs in my early teens, did geo-botanical excursions in the alps in college, got a degree in biology and have a day-job as a molecular biologist in biotech.
My art is a reflection of that dream. I create ARTefacts and specimens inspired by natural histories, real and imaginary once. I hope they free you from the bonds of everyday reality and let you wander in the Menagerie of the imaginative.
